49 years of close ties between Air France and China

In September 1966, the Boeing 707 “Château de Cheverny” inaugurated the Paris-Shanghai route, after a flight time of 22 hours and 25 minutes and 4 stop-overs in Athens, Cairo, Karachi and Phnom Penh.

A pioneer of air routes to China, Air France became the first European airline to serve the People’s Republic of China. Present in the country for close to 50 years, the airline has developed close ties with this unique country, combining the traditional and modern. Since launching this first route, the Company has been constantly developing its offer for our customers travelling to and from China. Today, the AIR FRANCE-KLM Group is European leader with 9 destinations served in Greater China on departure from Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol – Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Xiamen, Taipei and Wuhan.

Air France celebrates this Franco-Chinese friendship during the Chinese New Year, by offering special attentions to its customers, both at the airport and on board the flight. Happy year of the goat!
